The Sebastian Vail
The Ultimate Facial
Admittedly we Aspenites aren’t quick to visit Vail. However, Carbondale’s Timbers Resorts has opened a new boutique hotel and residence club, The Sebastian Vail, and the spa’s Ultimate Infusion Facial is worth a road trip. The latest pre-red-carpet trend among Hollywood A-listers, it delivers instant results. An age-defying blend of vitamins, antioxidants and peptides battle fine lines, while a highly concentrated vitamin C mask treats uneven skin tone. Show off your new glow at the resort’s Block 16 restaurant, inspired by Napa. After all, red wine is considered an antioxidant, too.
Champagne and Chocolate
The power of cocoa is a tried-and-true antioxidant, and the popular Champagne and Chocolate Truffle Decadence Body Facial ($250) at Remède Spa at the St. Regis Aspen is simply divine. A Champagne exfoliant kicks things off, followed by a warm hydrating chocolate mask that’s coupled with a scalp massage. The pièce de résistance is a 30-minute massage with a chocolate lotion that leaves your skin feeling and smelling delicious. Every product used is edible—chocoholics beware.
High-Tech Fitness
The Aspen Club & Spa trainers mean business. “If you’re not out of your comfort zone, it’s not working,” says group fitness coordinator and personal trainer Amy Knight. As such, the club’s new equipment and group fitness offerings ensure your hurts-so-good zone is maxed. New spin classes challenge the cardio-hungry (the Suspension Ride led by Knight fuses spinning with TRX suspension training), while the high-tech Bravo functional trainer improves strength (it’s also used for rehab). Latest group fitness trends include TRX, Rip-CoreFX and Zumba. With Olympian snowboarder Chris Klug at the helm of a Rip- Core class, what more motivation do you need?
Authentic Thai Massage
Custom-made jasmine and green tea-infused dark chocolate, kir royales and traditional Thai massage—Viceroy Snowmass knows how to treat a harried Aspenite. Popular massage therapist Laura Gorka explains the origins of the Thai modality: After hours spent praying with questionable posture, monks were in need of a well-deserved realignment. Simple in setup (ribbed mat and yoga clothes, or loose, comfortable clothing) yet chock-full of results, the massage combines elements of yoga, shiatsu and acupressure. Hammered hamstrings are restored, and the herbal compress upgrade includes steaming hot poultices used on the back’s pressure points. An hour or two with Gorka and you’ll be ready to tackle your own.
