Scarlett Johansson at the Golden Globes
Salon Tullio’s Michael Tullio talks Aspen hair trends.
What are the best new products and cuts in Aspen this season?
MICHAEL TULLIO: We have a new product line called Davines. It has a shampoo and conditioner that prolongs the life of your color. As far as the trends are concerned, there’s actually been a lot more short hair for Aspen ladies.
How short?
MT: Pixie-short. Think actress Emma Watson with her Mia Farrow pixie cut. There are extremely short cuts, but most are above the chin with soft layers around the face and into the crown.
What’s your favorite new style?
MT: My favorite was Scarlett Johansson’s updo at the Golden Globe Awards. It was a loose, wavy, elongated updo. That’s a direction the salon would definitely go in for weddings. Without a lot of hairspray, you can change it around and get two or three looks out of one hairdo by the end of the night.
What do you recommend using to take care of hair in high altitudes, where dryness can be a problem?
MT: I think Kérastase has the most moisturizing shampoos and treatment masks out there. We recommend our spray treatments along with those. They soften, moisturize and reconstruct—restructuring the integrity of hair. Salon Tullio, 208 E. Main St.; salontullio.com
