Pronounced “black market,” the BLK MKT store concept was created by a diverse group of entrepreneurs. It will be opening Friday, February 20th, at 419 E. Hyman Avenue creating a special vibe in the space until March 20th.
Locals Michael Delaney and Samuel Steen have brought in everyone from fashion designers and sculptors to musicians and toy makers to make up the goods in this mobile shop.
The concept grew out of a simple desire to utilize empty spaces. Each installation brings vacant buildings to life, eventually morphing into a hub of local culture and a needed outlet for the community in a space that was once stagnant.
The hardwood floors and brick walls throughout are the perfect clean slate for them to let their creative ventures flow.
This will be their fourth full-scale project and they are thrilled to be able to bring their vision to fruition to Hyman Avenue.
