Meet jewelry designer Chan Luu at Pitkin County Dry Goods this weekend.
Since emigrating from Vietnam in 1972 where she was raised during the Vietnam War, designer Chan Luu has risen to the top of the global fashion scene. She came to the U.S. with a passion and knowledge for art, fashion, and culture, which she nurtured with a B.A. in Business Administration from Boston University and a Fashion Design degree from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. In 1982 she opened her first boutique, which specialized in European designs, in Los Angeles, and in 1996 created her first jewelry collection (which later expanded to ready-to-wear). Inspired by various cultures, Luu’s handmade pieces feature naturally died leathers in a variety of colors and semi-precious stones.
Chan Luu’s handmade jewelry, accessories, and ready-to-wear, particularly her signature wrap bracelet, are favorites among such celebrities as Jennifer Lopez, Kate Hudson, Reese Witherspoon, and Sandra Bullock. Aspen locals also sport her pieces as they have a natural, casual-chic look that reflects the Aspen lifestyle.
Meet the designer at Aspen’s Pitkin County Dry Goods this weekend as they host Chan Luu for a pop-up shop and personal appearance on Friday, July 26 (2-6p.m.) and Saturday, July 27 (12-7 p.m.). Happy shopping! 520 E. Cooper, Ave., 970-925-1681
