Struggling with where to go for the holidays? Coloradans are predisposed to celebrate this time of year surrounded by snowy peaks, smoking chimneys, family and friends.
This year, our neighbors at the stately Broadmoor in the Pike National Forest are opening one of their wilderness properties (typically closed for the winter) for a special holiday-week buyout option.
Cloud Camp at the Broadmoor is a lodge built atop Cheyenne Mountain, 3,000 feet above the valley floor. During Christmas week, the great hall will be decked, the chimney swept and the long table set for 32.
The lodge has six guest rooms and is surrounded by 11 one and two bedroom cabins.
The buy-out is all-inclusive with the decorations, meals, alcohol and the Broadmoor’s typical Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond service included in the $50,000 price. However, a midnight visit from St. Nick is not guaranteed and reportedly requires good behavior year-round. www.broadmoor.com/cloud-camp/
