October 3-8, 2017. The 39th Aspen Filmfest brought 20 narrative and documentary films to Aspen and Carbondale for six days in October. The opening reception took place on October 3rd in the Wheeler Opera House lobby. Films throughout the festival were screened to packed houses. The Audience Award for Best Documentary went to "Wasted: The Story of Food Waste!” directed by Anna Chai and Nari Kye, and Best Feature went to “The Upside," directed by Neil Burger and starring Bryan Cranston, Kevin Hart and Nicole Kidman.
