The Motion Picture Awards Party, Aspen Film's annual benefit, will be held on Sunday, February 24, at the famous Caribou Club. Aspen Film's executive director Kip Hubbard gives us a sneak peek of what to expect and fills us in on his top picks for the 85th annual Academy Awards.
What can we expect from the 2013 Aspen Film Motion Picture Awards Party?
KIP HUBBARD: Guests enter on the red carpet and find themselves in an utterly transformed space perfect for viewing the Academy Awards telecast. The evening includes cocktails, dinner, dessert, dancing, the live awards broadcast, and live and silent auctions. Guests can bid on a variety of items including a New York trip that includes seats in the owner's box at a New York Giants game, a Las Vegas trip taking you to one of Vegas' signature shows, and a Los Angeles trip with an exclusive studio tour.
What are your thoughts about this year's Academy Awards? Who does your vote go to?
KH: My picks are: Lincoln as best picture, Daniel Day-Lewis as best actor, and Jennifer Lawrence as best actress.
Any actors/actresses you think should have received an Oscar nod and didn't?
KH: I was disappointed that Rust and Bone (France/Belgium) and The Intouchables (France) were both overlooked. Marion Cotillard gave an emotionally raw and powerful performance as the whale trainer in Rust and Bone, and Omar Sy was hilarious magic as the rambunctious gangster caregiver in The Intouchables.
