With longer days, plenty of snow, and the town abuzz with live music and special events, April in Aspen calls for adventure. These alpine outings offer the ultimate in spring outdoor activities:

First Tracks on Ajax: Be one of the first in town to get fresh turns on Aspen Mountain. After claiming bragging rights, hit Element 47 at The Little Nell for decadent apple cider doughnuts.

Cross Country to Pine Creek Cookhouse: A spring cross-country jaunt to this gourmet cabin in the woods is an absolute must for visitors and locals alike. Tucked away in the pristine Ashcroft Valley, the restaurant offers some of the best views and cuisine in the country.

Nature Tours: Join an Aspen Center for Environmental Studies snowshoe guide for a two-hour nature tour atop Ajax Mountain. As you hike along the gorgeous Richmond Ridge, glimpsing views of Highland Bowl, keep an eye out for snowshoe hares, pine squirrels, ermines, and even a red fox. Tours leave daily at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Held through April 12.
